REUNION ORGANISATION IN FULL SWING

At the start of the organization we decided that there should be a big reunion for all former members. When? Some day in the summer. Very quickly it became clear that this should be the 10th of July in 2010, right after the Family day on Sherpa. From that moment on the members of the commission worked hard to organize this day. But how to organize a reunion? Nobody in the commission has ever organized such an event before. Things like a barbecue, corps performing and drinks from the bar can all be organized with the help of Beatrix’ many committees and the board. Luckily these things will all be taken care of. Like the barbecue, which is completely in the hands of Ans van den Brink.

Another, much more difficult point was contacting the over 1300 former members of Beatrix’. This was a lot of work. Using the internet the Alumni Organisation managed to reach a very large group of former members, but there are too many people who have lost their connection with drumcorps and also don’t visit any drumcorps related websites. Off course this doesn’t mean that they don’t want to come to the reunion, so we looked through old member lists, collected email addresses and looked up the right home addresses. Still this wasn’t a guarantee that we could reach everyone. Luckily a lot of former members stay in touch with each other and they spread the word about the Beatrix’ reunion. In this way, a large group of people was contacted, but unfortunately still not everyone. So if you run into former members, let them know that they are more than welcome at the reunion.

For the members of the organising committee, the reunion is already a success. The big organisational tasks of the reunion have all been taken care of, and we already have 150 alumni who will be attending. We couldn’t have dreamt this half a year ago, when we were stuck with long lists of incorrect addresses. Will the Beatrix’ alumni organization stop after the reunion? No! We are an enthusiastic group and we will continue with the same drive. On to our second year!
