reunie4UNFORGETTABLE REUNIONNederlands

VERENIGING BEATRIX KORPSEN 12-07-2010
Despite the rain and thunderstorm later in the evening, the reunion was very successful. It was a great evening with lots of alumni, a well organized barbeque and many anecdotes and memories were relived.

At 16:30 the first alumni arrived at the corps hall. Some were a little bit too early, but everything was ready, so this was no problem at all. After a while the inflow of people hugely increased, and things became a bit crowded at the entrance. But there was instantly a good atmosphere. During the waiting there was a lot of laughter, and people were thrilled to meet again after many years. Some people had not seen each other for more than 30 years.

Honorary member Ans van den Brink was in charge of the group of volunteers that arranged the barbeque. All went smoothly and nobody fell short. There was so much to eat that most guests couldn’t even finish their plates. The team did an excellent job cooking for the entire crowd. There was great meat, delicious freshly made salads and even ice cream for dessert.

Of course there was also enough to see in the corps hall. There were old uniforms of Beatrix’ and Jong Beatrix; champion flags, including three WMC flags; photo’s; newspaper articles; collages and more. Huge thanks go out to the alumni who brought bags full of albums and other Beatrix’ related items.

All went smoothly, and people were clearly enjoying themselves. After the barbeque Beatrix’ Drum & Bugle Corps performed for the crowd. Unfortunately, Jong Beatrix could not perform since their summer break had already started a week earlier. Beatrix’ performed a great concert and an encore at the request of the alumni.

Initially it seemed that the rain and thunder would blow over but during the course of the evening it started pouring down. This was not an issue, and the party was simply moved inside. The reunion became a great evening, and a good step-up to an even bigger reunion next year. Next year Beatrix’ will celebrate her 65th anniversary and Jong Beatrix her 55th; enough reason to plan another great reunion!
