INTRODUCTION NATASJA VERSTEEG

My name is Natasja Versteeg and I am the new Corps Director for Jong Beatrix. I’ve been involved with music since I was seven. I started my ‘career’ as a majorette at muziekvendel Nardinc from Naarden. When I was eighteen, I was ready for a new challenge and so I joined the guard of Beatrix’ Drum and Bugle Corps in October 1990. At Beatrix’ I met Rob de Bruin, who was active in the staff team of Jong Beatrix for many years. During the 1991 season, I also came in contact with Jong Beatrix. After a couple of years with Beatrix’ Drum & Bugle Corps’ color guard, I decided to go to Jong Beatrix as a member of the guard staff.

Meanwhile I also marched one winter season with the guard of Avant Courir; Beatrix’ did not have a winterguard that year. After two years of not having a winterguard, the board of Beatrix’ decided to give it another try. Unfortunately the summer staff couldn’t be involved in winter season, because they were also active in another winterguard group. That is when I, with two other Beatrix’ members, restarted Beatrix’ winterguard, and I was an active staff member for two years.

After two years of being a staff member of Beatrix’ and Jong Beatrix I decided to resign from Beatrix’ staff to focus solely on the kids of Jong Beatrix. That was, after all, what I enjoyed the most. From 1997 until 2005 I was on the guard staff of Jong Beatrix. I always greatly enjoyed it, and we’ve booked many successes in the Netherlands and in England during that time.

In 2005 it was time for me to stop at Jong Beatrix, so that I could spend more time with my two daughters Thirza and Xavienna. In October 2009 Thirza became old enough to join the Jong Beatrix guard. At the same time my Jong Beatrix heart started beating louder and louder.

In April 2010, Bianca van Rosmalen decided to resign from her position as Corps Director of Jong Beatrix. For me that was the moment to sign on for being her successor, and here I am! As of May 10 2010, I am the new Corps Director of Jong Beatrix and I am glad to be back at home base!
